02:21 pm - My upside down revelation during yoga... I'm happy.
I'm happy a lot.
Not because life is "awesome" on paper. It's not. It's tough, trying, exhausting, filled with trial after trial, filled with demands and obligations and stresses and awkwardness and challenges. It is also coloured by chronic pain, and a chunk of other ongoing health concerns.
(It is also fun, exhilirating, filled with adventures and friendship and many kinds of love and challenges.)
For some reason, many of us, and certainly I find myself doing this, seem to think we're not really allowed to be happy too much. It means we're not working hard enough? Or it means we're too lucky?
I am very lucky - in friendship, life, opportunities, bargain shopping (teehee), what genetics and life have given me, and more. I adore and am grateful for the concept of serendipity. English not being my first language, I was overjoyed when I learned of this word (from a John Cusack movie!) and realised there was an English word to explain what I feel is the essence of Tao.
As I was reciting a meditative mantra during "downward dog" (an upside downey yoga posture), I realised that it said a lot about me and to me that I had converted it from:
Calm (breath in) Smile (breath out) Be in the Present (breath in) This moment is Wonderful (breath out)
to:
Calm Happiness Now Perfect
Smile because you're happy. Be happy because you're smiling. Why not be happy just because you're smiling. Why not smile and mean it. And maybe perfection is a lot more attainable than our intellects suggest.
I'm happy a lot. I think I choose to be. I'm not happy all the time, nor am I able to be. But I am happy that I'm not happy all the time. I like the balance which polarity can bring to my life and I think that I grow a lot and learn (best?) from having to achieve balance rather than just have it handed to me on a platter.
I'm sure I'll be railing against the endless exhaustion and the string of difficulties/hardship any minute again. That's okay, because I'll be happy again soon enough after that.

Tell you something I like about you. 4. Tell you a memory I have of you. 5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you. 6. Tell you my favourite user pic of yours. 7. In return, you can post this in your LJ.
*ponder* This seems deja vu'ey. I wonder if I've done this before.

06:37 pm - Call to Friends of Alice :) Hi everyone!
I'm sure most of you who are friends of Alice ( alibaster) are well aware of her passion, appreciation and deep love of corsetry.
I suspect many of you know that she has a giant heart-shaped wish to own a creation by lescarpolette who is a true artisan in corsetry.
And some of you may have realised that December = Christmas plus Alice's birthday.
I know this isn't a "secret" post.. because well.. it can't be kept a secret. We will be requiring Alice to decide on her desired design and although hypnotising her and extracting her secret deep dark wish for her favouritest corset design may seem like fun... it's probably not the best way to go about things.
So.. my mission for us, should you choose to accept it, is to acquire a collection of funds to commission the most awesome of awesome corsets for Alice.
If you would care to contribute to this present for Alice, please let me know either by replying to this post or emailing me. (You may choose to keep your contribution secret or anonymous if you wish.)
In finishing.. I'd like to point out that it's practically like buying a present for ourselves because we'll get to ogle Alice in a stunning L'escarpolette creation :)
PS My LJ-friends-list is not a comprehensive Alice's-friends-list so those of you who know of others who'd be interested in contributing, please let them know and have them get in touch with me. Current Mood: cheshirekittydressupexcitement

Let me know ASAP if you want the ticket!! $22 or whatever you can afford?! (please, if you can afford it - that'd be nice so solitas_revised can recoup some of her cost)

11:50 am - for the gamers/geeks/athletes/mobilephonejunkies some lil excerpts from the article to give you an idea what it's all about..
"...Matt is playing Uncle Roy All Around You, where for one day he is the main character in an elaborate experimental fantasy game played out across the streets of London. He also happens to be a pioneer of a new social phenomenon, urban gaming. ... For urban gamers are harnessing the power of global positioning systems (GPS), high-resolution screens and cameras and the latest mobile phones to play games across our towns and cities, where they become spies, vampire slayers, celebrities and even Pac-Man. ... Another phone-based game is a variant of the classic arcade game Tron. Two or more players, who may never have met, speed through a city leaving a virtual trail behind them that is plotted on their mobile phone screens. There is one rule: you can't cross your own trail or that of the other player, so the basic tactic is to try and encompass or corral your opponent, forcing him or her to cross a trail and lose the game. Pac-Manhattan players use PDAs incorporating GPS to work out each other's whereabouts..."
